The Volkswagen GTI W12 650 Concept sports car is a tribute to the Golf GTI fans who made the GTI a legend. It is a concept that was designed just for them. Its name refer to W12 cylinders, 650 bhp.
It is a mid-engine sports car with its 6.0-liter bi-turbo engine longitudinally mounted directly behind the driver and front passenger. Maximum torque of 554 lb-ft to the rear axle is produced from its six-speed automatic transmission and launch the GTI to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.
The chassis components of this showcar were adapted directly from a super sports car. Mounted on the front axle are 235 tires in 19-inch format, while in the rear there are 295 using alloy wheels. The brightly machined “Detroit” GTI wheels are “dished” in the direction of the wheel hub and are custom built due to the gigantic tire dimensions. Read more

Brazil Is Going To Get Toyota Cars That Run On Ethanol And Gasoline
May 22, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Toyota is introducing cars that run on ethanol and gasoline in Brazil, since such flexible-fuel vehicles are becoming more popular there.
Toyota was set to unveil Corolla subcompacts that run on ethanol, gasoline or a mixture of the two fuels, and plans to switch models produces in Brazil to flex-fuel cars.
Since about two years ago the ethanol industry in Brazil has started to develop and booming, and automakers are all rushing to offer flex-fuel cars there.
Ethanol in Brazil is made from corn, sugar cane or other crops. Most drivers in Brazil choose ethanol because it is about half the price of gasoline in Brazil. 8 out of every 10 new cars sold in the country are flex-fuel models.
I don’t know if this could reduce polution in Brazil because I’ve written a post before about how ethanol as fuel could cause more smog to the atmosphere.

Clean Energy Alternative
May 19, 2007 | 1 Comment
The future of clean energy looks promising with the result from a research conducted by the US National Medal Of Technology Winner, Professor Jerry Woodall and a Purdue University Engineer.
They have invented a way to use an aluminum alloy to extract hydrogen from water, a process that he thinks could replace gasoline as well as its pollutants and emissions tied to global warming. With their method, the two major challenges in creating a hydrogen economy could be solved. The challenges are on the transportation of the hydrogen and the storage.
Hydrogen would be made inside vehicles in tanks about the same size as today’s gasoline tanks instead of having to fill up at a station. An internal reaction in those tanks would create hydrogen from water and 350 pounds worth of special pellets.
An internal combustion engine or a fuel cell stack then powered by the hydrogen. According to Woodall, it’s simple to convert the ordinary internal combustion engines to run on hydrogen. What you need to do is just replace the gasoline fuel injector with a hydrogen injector.

2007 Formula 1: Spanish Grand Prix
May 14, 2007 | 3 Comments
Once again the race was won by a Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, at the Spanish Grand Prix yesterday. Eventhough he won the race, Ferrari is still behind McLaren in both the drivers’ and constructors’ tables. Second and third won by Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso of team McLaren-Mercedes.
I heard the commentators were mentioning that the engine the racers used yesterday was the same engine they used at Bahrain Grand Prix on 15 April 2007. Under the new regulation, new engine can only be used after two consecutive races. Meaning to say, yesterday’s race was the second time they change the engine in this year’s race. I’m wondering what are they going to do with the old engine? I know, they are going to give the engines to me for free
Below is the result from the race yesterday.
1 Felipe Massa
2 Lewis Hamilton
3 Fernando Alonso
4 Robert Kubica
5 David Coulthard
6 Nico Rosberg
7 Heikki Kovalainen
8 Takuma Sato
9 Giancarlo Fisichella
10 Rubens Barrichello
11 Anthony Davidson
12 Jenson Button
13 Adrian Sutil
14 Christijan Albers
Ret Nick Heidfeld
Ret Ralf Schumacher
Ret Vitantonio Liuzzi
Ret Scott Speed
Ret Kimi Räikkönen
Ret Jarno Trulli
Ret Mark Webber
Ret Alexander Wurz

The next race will be held at Monaco on 27 May 2007.

Ferrari Workers Go On Strike
May 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment
I suppose that you have read that Ferrari was recently voted as Best Place To Work In Europe 2007. Unfortunately they suffer the first strike on its production line in more than 20 years.
Around 80 percent of their workers who build their Gran Turismo models , went on strike. Some of the office workers didn’t even turn up for work except for their engineers.
The workers on the picket line sang: “We have a dream in our hearts - to see Cordero driving a tractor.” They were referring to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the company’s president.
The reasons why they go on strike are workers had been fined for “disturbing a tour of journalists” and that they were asked to cover up when they had injuries. They are also upset at not receiving a larger pay rise after even with the increase of their productivity.
For the record, the factory has 2,800 employees and builds 6,450 cars a year. The top 800 engineers work on Formula One cars.

May 5, 2007 | 3 Comments

The production car of the new 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R R36 or will be known only as Nissan GT-R will debut officially at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. he real GT-R will look a lot like the Nissan GT-R Proto concept that debuted at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show.
Nissan initially considered a V-8 for the next GT-R but has opted instead for a specially developed twin-turbo V-6, due to its lower weight and explosive power potential. Cosworth of Britain is helping Nissan while still meeting emissions laws, extract more than 450 horsepower from the upcoming 3.7- or 3.8-liter V-6.

In Los Angeles, a man is accused of stealing 26 cars whevever he wanted to see his girlfriend. Antonio Moreno, age 31 was caught when he drove a 1987 Toyota Camry.
According to the police, Moreno had been stealing Toyota Camrys and Nissan Sentras by using a simple device that starts Japanese cars of a certain age since January.
He stole some of the cars at Inglewood, the place where he stays and abandoned them in Santa Barbara while others were also taken from Sanata Barbara.
His girlfriend on the other hand, who was not arrested, told authorities she had been trying to dump him. The funny thing is why didn’t she suspect him earlier in the first place, for having so many cars
