2008 Jaguar XKR-S

Jaguar has unveiled the limited edition of the Jaguar XKR-S at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. According to Jaguar, the XKR-S sport car is the fastest production XK to date where it deliver the combination of high speed performance, dynamic excellence and crafted luxury that is unique to Jaguar.

Made from advanced lightweight aluminium body architecture, the Jaguar XKR-S is powered by a 4.2-liter all aluminium 4-cam supercharged V8 engine mated to a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission delivering 420 bhp and 560 Nm of torque.

Jaguar claimed that the XKR-S has the fastest shifting transmissions in the world with its optional ultra-fast manual shifts controlled by steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

The XKR-S achieved an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h), 19mph (30 km/h) faster than the XKR with the help of the recalibrated engine management.

The XKR-S is fitted with high performance braking system developed by Jaguar’s Special Vehicles team in partnership with British competition brake specialist Alcon featuring 400 mm diameter discs, lightweight monobloc 6-piston callipers at the front and 350 mm discs, lightweight monobloc 4-piston callipers at the rear at the rear.

As for the suspension system, the Jaguar XKR-S features new springs, new anti-roll bars and unique dampers. All the major suspension parameters are recalibrated, and the XKR-S uses Jaguar’s proven Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) with unique tuning. It also uses a faster ratio steering rack, for quicker reactions and optimum feel.

The Jaguar XKR-S will be available for 200 units in Europe market only and will be on sale in summer 2008.
