2009 Volvo XC60 Officially Revealed

Previously, we’ve seen leaked images of the 2009 Volvo XC60 over the internet but even before their debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show next month, Volvo has officially released the images and details of the Volvo XC60.
The Volvo XC60 combines a strong athletic body with high ground clearance and large wheels, while the flowing lines create the sporty charisma of a coupe.
The 2009 Volvo XC60 is powered by 3 versions of engines i.e. the turbocharged T6 which produces 285 PS and 2 types of D5 turbodiesel that delivers 185 hp and 163 hp respectively. As standard, All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is fitted to the XC60.
According to Volvo Cars President and CEO, Fredrik Arp, Volvo will offer a front-wheel driven 2.4-liter Euro 5 diesel engine that produces 163 hp and with a CO2 emission targeted around 170 g/km
The XC60 also comes with lots of safety features such as City Safety. According to the press release, the City Safety is a system that can help the driver avoid or reduce the effects of the type of low-speed impacts that are common in city traffic and traffic tailbacks. If the car is about to drive into the vehicle in front and the driver does not react, the car brakes itself. With this system, Volvo announced that the Volvo XC60 is the safest Volvo vehicle that has been produced.
Targeted sales by Volvo globally is over 50,000 cars per year with the largest market identified to be USA, Germany, Great Britain, Russia and China. The Volvo XC60 will be built at the Volvo Cars factory in Ghent, Belgium and sales will start during the second half of 2008 in Europe, early 2009 in North America and will arrive to UK dealer showroom in October 2008.
