At last, the official images of the 2010 Jaguar XFR sports sedan which will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show this week have surfaced on the internet. The Jaguar XFR is aimed to compete against the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
The Jaguar XFR is powered by the all-new 5.0-liter AJ-V8 GEN III engine that is fitted with a sixth-generation, Roots-type twin vortex system (TVS) supercharger to produce 510 hp between 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) of torque from 2,500 to 5,500 rpm. The power has been increased by 23 % and the torque by 12 % compared to its predecessor which is powered by a supercharged 4.2-liter V8.
The V8 engine is mated to an enhanced Jaguar’s electronically controlled 6-speed transmission to send power to its rear wheels. The 2010 Jaguar XFR is also equipped with additional clutch plates and an uprated torque converter to accommodate the power.
The XFR accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, from 50 to 70 mph in just 1.9 seconds and a quarter mile in 13.1 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Fuel consumption is at 22.5 mpg UK (18.8 mpg US or 12.5 liters per 100 km).
Other enhancement includes Active Differential Control and Adaptive Dynamics to optimize traction during acceleration and cornering, a faster steering ratio and larger ventilated disc brakes.
The Jaguar XFR is available in eight body colors, Ultimate Black, Indigo, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Porcelain, Botanical Green, Kyanite Blue and Salsa. The sports sedan features a larger lower grille with black-finished mesh, chrome outboard air intakes, bonnet with louvres, sill extensions, bootlid spoiler, redesigned side mirrors with LED repeaters, four large tail pipes and 20-inch Nevis alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2010 Jaguar XFR features a dark mesh aluminum finish trim on its dashboard, 18×14-way adjustable sports seats with the ‘R’ logo embossed, red speedometer and tachometer dial pointers with ‘Supercharged’ motif and a full soft grain leather trim interior.
