The partnership between Bugatti and Hermes of French design house, result in the making of Bugatti’s new special edition dubbed the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès which is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. The special edition Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès was presented at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show
The Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès supercar is powered by the same 8-liter W16 4 turbochargers 64 valves engine from the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 producing 1001 hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 1,250 Nm between 2,200 and 5,500 rpm.
The full-time all-wheel drive supercar clocked 2.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. With such power, the the car require high performance braking system which consist of carbon-fiber discs which provide pressure of up to 180 bar, eight-piston monobloc callipers and titanium pistons fitted with fine steel heads and ceramic heat protectors. At 200 km/h the rear wing will act as an airbrake positioning itself at an angle of 113 degrees in less than 0.4 seconds.
The airbrake increases negative lift at the rear of the car to 300 kg, enhancing the braking torque on the rear axle. At 400 km/h, emergency braking will bring the sports car to a complete halt in less than 10 seconds.
The Fbg par Hermès refers to Hermès headquarters on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré where Fbg is short for faubourg.
Gabriele Pezzini, Hermès designer, leads the designing work of the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès featuring unique color at the exterior and interior, 8-spoked wheels in polished aluminium, central butterfly wheel locks branded with the letter H, lightweight alloys horseshoe radiator grille and lateral ventilation grilles. Meanwhile, most of the components in the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès are wrapped in bull calfskin such as the dashboard, seats and the panel separating the cockpit from the central rear engine.
The Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès is priced at 1.55 million euros (not including tax) and will be available at the end of 2008.
