The Vauxhall VXR8 can be considered as the re-badge of the Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) Clubsport R8 marketed in Australia. The UK market Vauxhall VXR8 rear-wheel drive super saloon is getting a new V8 engine which will increase its power and performance.
The new 6.2 liter engine that will power the VXR8 is known as the LS3, where it replace the outgoing 6.0 liter LS2. The engine is fitted with high-flow cylinder heads, new pistons and an enhanced valvetrain.
The power is also increase by 14 PS to produce 431 PS at 6,000 rpm. The Vauxhall clocked 4.9 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, down from 5.0 seconds from the LS2. The in-gear acceleration has also been improved for manual models, 50-70 mph in 3rd gear drops from 2.8 to 2.6 seconds; 30-50mph in 2nd gear drops from 2.0 to 1.9 seconds.
The emissions and fuel consumption of the LS3 is similar to the outgoing LS2 even with the increase of performance and also the automatic transmission model will receive oil cooler as standard.
Apart from that, the VXR8 stands on factory-fit 20 inch wheels and a new Heron White body color for the VXR8 which is available at no extra cost.
Prices for both manual and automatic versions of the LS3-powered VXR8, which are on sale in the UK now, rise by £485 to £35,695.
