Ferrari 599XX

The Ferrari 599XX track car was based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano with the same transaxle layout and engine type but extensive work has been carried out on the engine’s combustion chambers and inlet and also its exhaust tracts.

The maximum revs have been boosted to 9,000 rpm and the internal attrition has been reduced to produce 700 hp at 9,000 rpm.

The engine is also fitted with new crankshaft and carbon fiber intake plenums to reduce the weight of the engine. Its new gearbox cuts overall gerchange times to 60 ms.

The performance of the Ferrari 599XX has also been maximised by an innovative electronic concept known as the “High Performance Dynamic Concept” by managing the combination of the car’s mechanical limits with the potential of its electronic controls.

The sporty suspension system has been improved by the second generation SCM suspension system. The 599XX also comes with the new “virtual car engineer”, a screen in the car that provides a real time indication of the car’s efficiency.

The aerodynamic meanwhile has been tuned and tested in numerous wind tunnel tests to provide 280 kg of downforce at 200 km/h and 630 kg at 300 km/h. The front underside of the body is completely faired-in and the vents that channel hot air from the engine bay have been moved to the bonnet.

Thanks to the porous material in the diffuser and two fans in the boot that channel the air from under the car out through two grilles next to the taillights, the “ActiflowT” system now could increase the downforce and/or cuts drag depending on the car’s trim cornering conditions.

In order to increase downforce, winglets have also been installed on the 599XX while synthetic jets have been added to the rear of the car to control and smooth the air flow and to reduce drag.

The brake discs and the wheel rims were also partly covered by the F1-derived “doughnut” to improve the aerodynamics and also for brake cooling. The brake pads are made from carbon fiber which means the callipers are smaller but still provide the same efficiency. With the use of the new racing carbon ceramic braking system, the braking distance has been shortened.

Ferrari engineers used composites, carbon fiber and aluminum for the 599XX bodywork in order to achieve the weight target.

The Ferrari 599XX stands on 19X11J wheels at the front wrapped with 29/67 R19 tires and 19X12J wheels at the rear wrapped with 31/71 R19 tires.
