Hyundai HED-5 I-MODE Concept

Hyundai has presented for the first time the HED-5 i-MODE MPV Concept at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The first time we saw the concept was from the HED-5 i-MODE sketches last month.

The HED-5 i-MODE is made possible with the collaboration with Bayer MaterialScience AG, Keiper and LG Electronics. Bayer MaterialScience helps to develop light weight body construction, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

LG meanwhile installed advanced entertainment such as video games, movies, internet access or video calling in the HED-5 i-MODE concept.

Keiper supported the i-mode project with the exclusive world premiere of its new and unique Swivel Seat concept where the first row passenger seat rotates to face second and third row occupants.

The Hyundai HED-5 i-MODE Concept is powered by an all-new 2.2-liter R diesel engine mated to a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic gearbox which first passes the intake air through a low-pressure turbocharger from where it is forced into a high-pressure turbocharger for maximum boost, producing 158 kw (215ps) and 47kg.m of peak torque (461 Nm).

The R Engine is scheduled to be produced which first begin with the standard (single turbocharged) version in 2009 and the dual-stage turbocharged edition scheduled in the first half of 2011.
