Kia cee’d (pronounce: seed) is a mature and satisfying design, with a substantial appearance, flowing shape and expressive lines; smart, unfussy detailing and balanced proportions. The interior is finished to high standard – fabrics and plastics are easy on the eye and pleasing to the touch. In showroom conditions, at least, it’s an impressive package. Longer and taller than its stablemate, the SW’s changed proportions ensure it looks smart as well as practical.

The production versions are a 5-door hatchback and a 5-door sporty wagon, or SW. The hatch goes on sale in December, the SW in September 2007.

Pro_cee’d concept, a sportier 3-door cee’d. Lower than the other cee’ds, its flatter sides, high strong waistline and rearward tapering roofline impart an energetic, dynamic character. It’s a very European look.

Extensive chrome detailing (door strips, air ducts, ported exhausts, window surrounds, and four-port grille) is subtle enough to work well. Notable exterior features include twin longitudinal glass rooflights, bi-color headlight clusters that incorporate a green-glowing outline, and striking, oversized black-and-chrome sports wheels. Inside is a leather-rich sporty cabin with podded sports-style instruments and finely detailed switchgear.

Expect to see a production 3-door cee’d based on this concept as soon as next year.
