Lotus Exige S Type 72


To commemorate Lotus return to the Formula One, the people at Lotus has developed a limited edition Lotus Exige S known as Type 72. Between 1970 and 1975, Lotus has achieved 20 Grand Prix victories. The Lotus Type 72 was driven by Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx and won three Formula One Constructors’ Championships (1970, 1972 and 1973) and two Drivers’ World Championships (in 1970 by Jochen Rindt and in 1972 by Emerson Fittipaldi).
The Lotus Exige S Type 72 is powered by a supercharged mid-engine with intercooler that comes with VVTL-i technology. The 935 kg Exige S Type 72 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds with the top speed of233 km/h (145 mph).
The car consumes 6.5 liters/100 km (43.5 mpg) of fuel on the Extra Urban Cycle and emits 199 g/km of CO2.
The Lotus Exige S Type 72 comes standard with a Sport Pack that consists of black micro fiber ProBax sports seats with gold stitching and a special build plate commemorating one of the F1 car’s 20 Grand Prix victories.
At the exterior, the Lotus Exige S type 72 features black and gold Lotus Type 72 color scheme, unique black and gold light weight wheels and is finished with hand-painted gold Type 72 and Exige S logos.
The Sport Pack also comes with a T45 steel main roll hoop, Lotus Traction Control, twin oil coolers and an adjustable front anti-roll bar.
Options for the Type 72 are air conditioning, Limited Slip Differential and the Performance Pack that increases the power to 240 PS, larger AP racing brakes, enlarged roof scoop, Lotus variable traction control and Lotus launch control.
Only 20 units of the Lotus Exige S Type 72 will be produced for the UK while 20 more units for mainland Europe. There will be limited number of the Type 72 for the Japan and other selected markets around the world.
The Lotus Exige S Type 72 is priced at £35,995 MRSP (excluding on the road costs of £950) in the UK while it is priced at €40,332 (including delivery and other on the road costs, excluding local country tax) in other parts of Europe.
