The collaboration between Bollore and Pininfarina has produced an electric car known as B0 (pronounced B-Zero) which made its debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.
The car won’t be just a prototype but will actually go into production at the end of 2009. The B0 will be built in Turin by Pininfarina-Bollore, a joint venture formed by the two family-owned groups.
The B0 is powered by Bollore’s propriety LMP (Lithium Polymer) technology, using a combination of batteries and supercapacitors manufactured in Bolloré’s plants in Quimper, France and Montreal, Canada. The batteries is located under the car, between its axles, to lower the center of gravity.
The B0 is a four-seater, four-door hatchback with an automatic gearbox where the body was designed by Pininfarina of Italy. The LMP battery is rechargeable by a standard domestic main socket within few hours and could last for 250 km (153 miles). The B0 accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h (37 mph) in 6.3 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 130 km/h (80 mph). Other method to charge the LMP battery is via the solar panels on the roof and the hood.
According to Bollore, the LMP battery does not require any maintenance and it has a life span of around 200,000 km (125,000 miles) and with the use of the LMP batteries and the solar panels, the B0 could reduce air pollution and also contribute to reducing noise in the urban environment.

What is going to be the cost of the car? In U.S. Dollars. It is a great looking car and would be a really good commuter car.
It’s a very interesting car! I’d like to know when it’s available in Switzerland and how much it will cost (in Euro or CHF). …so I can start to save money already now…
Please let me know by your newsletter when there will be known more details about the Pininfarina-Bolloré B0-car.
