Proton Gen2 EVE

Proton and Lotus Engineering are collaborating to develop a Gen2 1.6 liter Campro engine which is equipped with a Lotus Engineering’s EVE hybrid technology. EVE is stands for Efficient, Viable, Enviromental and basically it’s a 30 kiloWatt (40 horsepower) electric motor.

The engine uses a ‘micro-hybrid’ start-stop system, a full parallel hybrid drive (a start-stop system to shut off the gasoline engine when unneeded and restarts automatically when the brake pedal is released) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to achieve fuel economy of 5.6 litres/100km. The maximum torque of 233Nm at 1500rpm and maximum power of 105kW at 5500rpm enable the car to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds with a top speed of 188.8 km/h.

The CO2 emission level released from the car is 22 % lower than the standard Gen2 at 134 g/km.
