SEAT, Volkswagen Group Spanish subsidiary, unveiled the production version of the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra at the 2009 Barcelona International Motor Show. The Bocanegra was first introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show as a concept model.

The Ibiza Bocanegra is powered by a twin charged 1.4-liter TSI engine either in 150 PS or 180 PS versions. The engines are mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox with an XDS electronic limited slip differential.

Bocanegra means “Black Mouth” in Spanish thus the black styling elements at the front fascia, double headlights, the air vents at the base and the honeycomb mesh central grille. The styling of the Ibiza Bocanegra is also a tribute to the original Bocanegra, the 1200 Sport which debuted in 1975.

The front bumper combines black with the body color and comes with a broad grille beneath for engine cooling while the fog lights are bigger at the bottom and over the wheel arches.

At the rear, the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra features features honeycomb mesh on the side grids, an impressive spoiler, chunky wheel arches, a tinted rear window and a “Bocanegra” badge centred at the rear hatch.

Other features include black door mirror housings, a dark tinted sunroof and attractive 17-inch ‘Sira’ alloys.

Inside, the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra features sports seats with capital “B” logo, three-spoke steering wheel with capital “B” logo, gloss black trim aluminum-clad pedals and the Bocanegra logo on the instrument panel.
