Infiniti EX37

With the launch of the Infiniti brand to Europe, the Infiniti EX37, the world’s first compact coupe crossover, will be launch somewhere in late 2008. The Infiniti EX37 is based on the Infiniti FM platform, similar to Infiniti G37 and G37 Coupe.

The EX37 is powered by a new 3.7-liter twin cam 24 valve V6 version of VQ lightweight aluminum engine family, mated to a new 7-speed automatic transmission, producing over 310 PS and over 350 Nm of torque.

Apart from that, the VQ37 unit also features V-VEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology to optimise efficiency and, in turn, the balance between power, response, fuel efficiency and emissions. The new 7-speed automatic transmission, with the additional forward gear, has a wider spread of ratios which benefits both fuel consumption and drivability.

Toyota TRD HiLux

Toyota TRD HiLux

Toyota will unveil the Toyota TRD HiLux at the Melbourne International Motor Show starting from from 29 February, ahead of its launch in April.

The performance of the new HiLux will be improved compared to the standard vehicle but uses less fuel. According to TRD chief engineer, Stephen Castles, the power from the standard HiLux 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine which currently producing maximum torque of 376 Nm at 3800 rpm will have an increase of more than 25 % of power and torque by almost 20 %.

Renault Koleos Crossover

Renault Koleos Crossover

Renault will debut its first ever 4×4 crossover, Renault Koleos, at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show next month. The crossover delivers the same standard of comfort as that expected of a hatchback, as well as cabin space worthy of a compact MPV.

The Renault Koleos was designed by Renault, developed by Nissan and manufactured in Renault Samsung Motors’ Busan plant in Korea.

There will be 2 types of Alliance engines available for the Renault Koleos i.e. the latest-generation 2.0 dCi Euro 4 diesel engine (M9R) available in 150 hp, 320 Nm of torque or 175 hp, 360 Nm of torque. The same engine has been use in Renault’s Mégane, Laguna and Espace, Nissan’s Qashqai and New X-Trail and Renault Samsung Motors’ QM5.

Land Rover LRX Concept

Land Rover LRX Concept

Land Rover recently unveiled the Land Rover LRX Concept at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The LRX Concept is a 3-door compact size, cross-coupe, light weight and sustainability focussed technologies 4×4 vehicle.

The Land Rover LRX Concept handling performance is optimize with its full-time four-wheel drive, Hill Descent Control and Terrain Response system to improve traction on difficult surfaces ranging from icy roads to wet grass, gravel and snow. The LRX Concept stands on 20-inch alloy wheels all around.

Even though the LRX is a compact 4×4, the interior is still roomy, practical and versatile featuring a combination of soft leathers in rich tan and dark chocolate, with polished aluminium details. To create a three-dimensional look that can be personalised for different drivers as well as interacting with the LRX’s touch-screen display, the electronic display uses ‘floating’ LCD graphics.

HUMMER HX Concept

HUMMER HX Concept

Three new GM designers, David Rojas, Min Young Kang and Robert Jablonski (College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mich graduates) came up with the new HUMMER design dubbed the HUMMER HX Concept. The concept HUMMER is scheduled to make its debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show.

The design of the HUMMER HX Concept was under the guidance of Carl Zipfel, an ex-professional motocross racer and director of the HUMMER design studio to help ensure designs were true to the HUMMER brand.

It took 3 months for the designers to work on the new HUMMER concept and each designer had the opportunity to present their clay models to Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman and Ed Welburn, who chose which design would ultimately become the HX concept.

HUMMER H3 Black Edition

HUMMER H3 Black Edition

HUMMER will introduce the HUMMER H3 Black Edition for Europe market by the end of this year. The H3 Black edition will be available for 50 units only and will come with € 5,000 of extras as standard.

The HUMMER H3 Black Edition is based on the H3 Adventure automatic model and features black exterior, plush black leather interior which include a matt black grille, tubular assist steps, roof crossbars, lockable fuel door, door handles, mirrors and black powder-coated wheels.
