The new 2008 Opel Corsa GSi is powered by the lightweight compact 1.6-liter 110 kW/150 hp turbo engine which provides high performance combined with fuel economy and environmental compatibility. The weight of the engine is at only 131 kg yet it produces considerable power.
The Corsa GSi clocked 8.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 210 km/h. The GSi accelerates from 80 to 120 km/h in just 8.2 seconds in fifth gear with the help of the rapid turbo response and also with the sequential manifold injection. The Corsa GSi comes with six-speed manual transmission and the maximum torque of 210 Nm is constantly available from 1850 to 5000 rpm. The Corsa GSi consumes just 7.9 liters/100 kilometers of super unleaded gasoline.
The weight of the engine is reduced with the help from the aluminum bearing cover, the grey cast iron block which weighs only 27 kg, aluminum cylinder head, aluminum oil sump and aluminum turbo-specific induction manifold with side-mounted throttle valve.
The GSi’s turbo engine other highlights are output per liter of 94 hp, a rapid-response compressor with external water cooling, Its turbine reaches over 200,000 rpm, the turbocharger housing is integrated into the cast exhaust manifold for the weight and rapid response of the turbocharger.
