Venturi Automobiles in the collaboration with Michelin presented the Venturi Volage at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The Volage is another electric car from Venturi after the Fetish roadster that was unveiled at the Top Marques Monaco last April.
All the 4 wheels and the active suspension of the Volage is equipped with Michelin Active Wheel technology which incorporates 2 electric motors per wheel, 1 for the suspension and 1 for the drive. All the components motors, gear reduction units and suspensions, are miniaturized and built into the wheels.
Meanwhile, the active electric shock absorbers allow the car to adapt to the type of road surface and driving. Inside, the car features a dashboard touch screen where the driver could configure the preference settings such as comfort rather than speed.
Venturi Design Office reduced the weight of the Volage to 1,075 kg with the use of carbon fiber for its bodywork such as the Fetish. The weight distribution of the car’s masses is 45 % at the front and 55 % at the rear. This enable the Volage to accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.
The Venturi Volage is scheduled for production in 2012 and will be hand built and assembled in Venturi’s workshops in Monaco in limited numbers.
