Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Concept BlueSport roadster at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The 2-seater Volkswagen Concept BlueSport is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI strong Clean Diesel engine with common rail injection and downstream NOx storage catalytic converter to produce 180 PS (132 kW) and 350 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG dual clutch transmission to transfer power to the rear wheels. The Concept BlueSport accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds with the top speed of 226 km/h.
The mid-engine layout provides a 45:55 front-to-rear weight distribution. The car has a wheelbase of 2.43 m, 1.26 m tall and 3.99 m long with the overall weight of around 1,200 kg.
During Eco mode, an automatic start-stop system and energy regeneration, the Volkswagen Concept BlueSport consumes fuel at just 4.3 liter per 100 km and an additional fuel savings of up to 0.2 liter per 100 km in city driving.
At the exterior, the Volkswagen Concept BlueSport features a Flex Silver exterior and orange fabric convertible top, Bi-Xenon LED headlights and lightweight 19-inch wheels wrapped with 235/35ZR19 tires at the front and 245/35ZR19 at the rear.
Inside, the Concept BlueSport features easy to operate touchscreen and leather upholstered seats in lightweight construction with their single-piece seatbacks.
