Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Volkswagen Scirocco R, parallel to the start of the 24-hour race at Nürburgring. The race version of the Scirocco R will be featured in the 24-hour race.
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine to produce 265 PS (195 kW) and 350 Nm of maximum torque. Optimal performance comes from the new front axle differential lock XDS.
The design of the Volkswagen Scirocco R is largely based on the Scirocco GT24 race car featuring large air intake openings in the front bumper to cool the engine and the brakes, an integrated front spoiler, bi-xenon headlights, side sills, rear roof edge spoiler, a striking shining black diffuser, dual exhaust system with chrome tailpipes and 18-inch “Talladega” alloy wheels.
Five Sciroccos participated at the Nürburgring 24-hour race with driver teams including Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, member of the Volkswagen board of management for technical development, Carlos Sainz, the rally world champion and this year’s Dakar winner, Giniel de Villier.
